My name is Shamim Bashir. I am the tutor/assessor for the Level 2 Introduction to Caring for  Children and Young People (Diploma). The aim of the qualification is to give you  a basic understanding of childcare and education, parenting and babysitting. It will also help you to make an informed choice about working with children and young people. The total qualification time (hours) is 370 and guided learning hours is 309. The course contains optional units which are both knowledge and skill based. To achieve these units, you need to demonstrate skills in a real or simulated work environment. You must achieve a minimum of 37 credits for the Diploma. All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include : written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board. On completion of the Diploma, you can progress to the Level  2 Certificate for Children and Young Person's Workforce and the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (EYE)

This qualification prepares you to become an Early Years Educator, enabling you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children to 7 years. Upon achievement of this qualification you will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators or access higher Education. 

In order to achieve the level 3 Diploma in childcare and Education ( Early Years Educator) you nmust pass 15 mandatory units. You must also pass  an effective practice study and an extended assessment ( Externally set and externally marked).

I am the tutor for the Support Teaching and learning level 3 diploma.

NCFE CACHE level 3 Diploma In Support Teaching and Learning -

This qualification will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school and college environments. It covers all aspects of specialist support, including, planning: delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher:bilingual support, special needs support; and personal development and reflective practice.

It is aimed at learners working in roles that offer specialist support for pupils, learning in primary, secondary or special schools, as well as colleges.

The purpose is to prepare you for employment .

Total Qualification Hours  - 530

The minimum age of the learner is 16 years.

The age ranges you will work with is from 5 to 19 years

 years old.

You will need to show competence in both skills and knowledge. You will need to be on a practical placement during the taught programme of study in a learning environment (school or college). At diploma level, cache recommends that you undertake an additional 100 hours of placement in a real work environment to that taken at certificate level , to total 200 hours. 

The hours are above are recommendations, not mandatory minimum placement hours. They are therefore not part of the Total Qualification Time qualification.
