Hi, my name is Richard Cowles and I am the employability tutor at the Dewsbury centre.
I teach both employability and maths each half of the week. I joined Aspire in September 2019 having worked as a primary school teacher in both Leeds and Bradford.
The main purpose of the employability course is to give you the skills and confidence to progress into work or further study. Many students leave school unsure of what they want to do next - a Diploma in Employability skills at Level 1 is perfect for those people as the course gives you a sample of the different sectors and industries that are available to you; from health and social care, to childcare and customer service.
The course also introduces you to other areas of employment, such as; running your own business, planning your career, making applications and CV's and even work placements.
